Two students from the Dunbar Middle School have received state-wide recognition for their engineering ideas from the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME).
Justin McKibben and Jorge Urritia’s essay and poster entries won first and second place in the TAME essay and poster contest. The contest, sponsored by the state-wide alliance challenges middle schools students to share their thoughts on engineering by writing an essay and illustrating it with a poster.
Both students are part of the Center for Engineering Outreach’s Pre-college Engineering Academy at Dunbar. The math and science magnet school is located in Lubbock, Texas.
McKibben’s winning poster and essay focused on the limitless possibilities of engineering and featured a futuristic helmet and technology on the horizon called ‘media paper’.
