Texas Tech University Athletics Receives $1M Gift from Happy State Bank
Texas Tech University officials announced a $1 million gift from Happy State Bank to fund facilities priorities of The Campaign for Fearless Champions.
The gift will be allocated to the new Sports Performance Center, which includes indoor training facilities for football and track and field. In recognition of the gift, the northwest entrance to Jones AT&T Stadium has been named the Happy State Bank Entrance. The Texas Tech University System Board of Regents approved the naming in keeping with the system’s policies on major gifts.
“Happy State Bank has been a valued corporate sponsor of Texas Tech Athletics and we are grateful for their continued support,” Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. “Today we are excited to welcome them as a new philanthropic partner in supporting this important new facility and The Campaign for Fearless Champions.”
The new Sports Performance Center will replace the Athletic Training Center (“The Bubble”), located south of Jones AT&T Stadium. It will house a 200-meter indoor, banked track with seating for up to approximately 2,000 fans, as well as an indoor football practice facility. The building will also include strength and conditioning space, sports medicine facilities and a nutrition center.
