Lubbock Fundraisers Honor Jane Piercy With Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award
The Lubbock Area Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals named Jane Piercy as Outstanding Fundraising Professional at their annual National Philanthropy Day event held at the Overton Hotel and Conference Center. Piercy is director of development for the Texas Tech University College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources.
The recognition was part of the organization’s celebration of National Philanthropy Day. First proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan on Nov. 15, 1986, National Philanthropy Day recognizes the charitable work of donors, volunteers and others who engage in philanthropy to impact their communities. The local award honors an individual fundraising professional who works for a nonprofit charity and has more than 15 years of professional philanthropic experience.
“Jane exemplifies the values of professionalism and integrity recognized by this award,” said Lisa D. Calvert, who oversees fundraising for the Texas Tech University System as vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement. “Throughout her career, she has witnessed the transforming power philanthropy by connecting alumni and donors with the incredible teaching and research happening in the College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. Under her leadership, the college has added more than 130 new endowments, but Jane’s enduring achievement is the impact her work makes every day in the lives of students and faculty at Texas Tech University.”
Piercy joined Texas Tech University in 2003 as director of development for University Libraries. In 2008, she became director of development for the College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, overseeing fundraising and alumni relations for one of the university’s founding colleges.
