AAF Lubbock Honors Four Projects with American Advertising Awards

The Lubbock chapter of the American Advertising Federation announced the local winners of the 2020 American Advertising Awards, and I was honored to receive four awards — including two top honors — for work I designed for the Texas Tech University System.

The American Advertising Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition. Judged by industry peers, top designs are selected based on the creative dimensions of each entry.

Taking top design honors with a Gold ADDY in the printed endowment report category was my design for the Texas Tech University System’s 2019 endowment report. Featuring imagery that felt timeless and cinematic, the report’s conservative design aimed to communicate quiet reassurance.

Also receiving a Gold ADDY in the sales kit or product information sheets category was my design for a proposal jacket. Created for the Texas Tech University System, the custom presentation folder’s marries premium finishes with sophisticated design to present a special experience for sharing principal gift proposals with donors.

Rounding out the same category, my design for Texas Tech University’s 2019 scholarship donor folder received a Bronze ADDY. By celebrating the ultimate impact of scholarship gifts with images highlighting the pageantry of commencement, the three panel pocket folder used design to elevate the annual packets of letters sent from student scholarship recipients to donors.

In the copywriting category, my script for the 2019 Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards video earned a Silver ADDY. Highlighting the annual recipients of the Texas Tech University System’s highest faculty honors, the video’s efficient pacing and vivid language bring each winner’s story to life.

The American Advertising Awards is a three-tiered contest that begins at the local chapter. Winners represent the best in their marks and advance to the district level. District ADDY winners qualify for the national round.

The Lubbock chapter of the American Advertising Association boasts more than 60 advertising professionals and organizations representing the advertising industry. Nationwide, almost 35,000 entrants participated in this year’s American Advertising Awards.
